I love this place and I hope it resists change as it has over the last 40 years. It reeks of character and endures limpingly as a local's hang out. And by the way, I found it to be very friendly - but I'm a friendly guy myself and so I don't encounter much in the way of trouble anywhere.

Went bar hopping with a few friends, the environment was amazing, people were fantastic. The bartender was super friendly, made us feel welcomed for out-of-staters. Gave out cake and cookies which was the icing on the cake.

Highly recommend using the downstairs toilets but otherwise a quality dive. Smoking inside is accepted. Bartender is chatty and opinionated, locals like a good conversation.

Norb is an amazing bartender - nice easy vibe in a classic old school bar.

They serve alcohol here and you can smoke indoors, watch Jeopardy! or a Phillies game, and bond with whoever is on the stool next to you. It's a place of quiet contemplation on a busy street corner.

Quiet, no frills bar off of Washington. If you're for looking somewhere off the beaten path to relax, Friendly is definitely a good option. Prices are pretty standard for Philly dive, but be aware it's cash only.

This place rules. Tiny corner neighborhood bar with super friendly regulars and staff. Wall hangings remind you of times past, which apparently may have involved mob connects:) Kelly our adorable bar tender was so cute and fun to talk to! Drinks are cheap and the company was awesome.

Stumbled across this gem with a few buddy’s!! This place is awesome! Just a little dive bar with some cool history! We will definitely be back soon. The bartender Kelly awesome also she has some good stories about the history of this place. 5 stars across the board

Superior South Philly bar, Dom is a great guy and it's a good place to catch up with friends.
